week 3 with no rejoicing from me...

After reading the title of this post, listen closely to the dramatic music that follows. "Dunt dunt dunnnnnn". Ahhh, yes, so very suspenseful.

I had a disappointing week, and so deservingly so. I filled my week with far to many cheat days, there was pizza- twice, and ahhh yes, that Fazoli's night. I actually skipped a few nights of walking as well. What happened to my determination? Where did my iron will go? Can I get back on the wagon this week?

So many questions to answer, but hopefully the answer is yes to the last of those. I really hope to lose 8 lbs in the next two weeks, which would make me feel better about two upcoming weddings we will be attending, and the dreaded state fair. Oh state fair, full of delicious and horrific treats taunting me from every little crevice of the fair grounds. What will I do?

To make a long story short, I really did not do much this week. I did lose 2 lbs, so I am down to 138. That is 18 lbs above my goal weight, and 9 weeks remaining of my personal challenge. I have to lose 2 lbs a week to meet my goal, but hopefully I can gain some ground in these next two weeks. I will need to be ahead of the game in order to stay where I need to be.

Time to get serious again...

Week 2 and 20 more lbs to go!

I am anxious to blog this week after a sensational weigh in this morning. Unlike biggest loser, there was no constant shifting of numbers until the actual result popped up on the scale, just the facts, direct and quick- blaring into my eyes. The scale screamed 140, which means that I lost 5.5 this week! A sensational weigh in like that won't happen twice for me, but I will take it and rejoice over it. Although, my celebrations will include no ice cream, cake or salty french fries, I'm having a little party in my head instead.

The results did come as a bit of a shocker for me. I feel that I could have worked much harder this week. I did cheat a bit, I had pizza twice, but limited to one small slice each time, and I had a few bites of mashed potatoes and meatloaf last night. I guess it's true what they say, it's all about portions.

I was also strategic with burning extra calories this week. I am aware that 3500 calories are in a pound of fat. I found a website that shows you how many calories you burn doing day to day activities, and how many extra you can burn by throwing in a few strategic things. You enter the amount of time you will be doing certain items all the way down a long list and it approximates how many calories you will burn that day. http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc (if you want to check it out). I calculated everything from cleaning up the house, to playing with the kids, even down to sex (I am married you know). I noticed that I could burn a few extra calories if I do things like stand while I watch tv, but if anything, this website just gave me a bit more awareness into how much the little things that I either do, or need to be doing could help me with my weight loss. It made me much more strategic and much more motivated to keep active.

Since I posted week 1, I have had a ton of website suggestions with diet helps. I have yet to check any of those out, but I will start looking through them on Monday.

So, if you asked me earlier in the week, I didn't think that this week was going all that great, but after today- weigh day- I thought week one went fabulously. Congrats to me. I will have to reread this in the future when I get those discouraging .5 or 1lb weeks. I hate those.

10 more weeks and 20 more lbs to go.

Week 1

Today is the first day of week one, or maybe it's the last day, it's hard to calculate.
Here's it is, plain and simple, had a baby last November. When I become pregnant I was working out every single day, and I weighed 122. Post pregnancy, and unfortunately, it is already 7 months post, I am much larger. Weighing in at a whopping 145, I am miserable. I miss my clothes, and I have refused the simple luxury of refilling my closet because I refuse to accept this for myself.
Originally I planned to join weight watchers. I was right there, about to drop bags of money on a weight loss plan, when POW! my friend and weight loss partner moves to Kansas. Thankfully she rescued me from spending my hard earned blogging dollars since I refuse to join this organization alone. I know, I know, essentially I am the only one responsible for my weight loss, however, I really dread going to their eaters anonymous meetings without her. "Hi, my name is anna, and I have a problem. It all started with the salty goodness of french fries."
Thankfully, I know me best, so I am taking this adventure public. I figured blogging about, and sharing publicly my adventure to lose 25 lbs by October 1, I would remain both accountable and motivated to do what I need to do to feel good about my body again.

So here we go... 25 lbs by October 1, that's 11 weeks, or 77 days, however you want to say it. I've always heard that you should give yourself a year to lose the weight you gained from having a baby. I'm giving myself 11 months because I'm an over achiever. So, with a little less than 3 lbs a week necessary to succeed, wish me luck!
